Our Approach to Boston Wedding Photography
We are an editorial and documentary wedding photography team. That means we work in two distinct modes throughout your wedding day and understanding both is important when you’re choosing your photographer.
In documentary mode, we disappear. We move through your wedding as quiet, observant professionals. We capture the raw emotion of a first look, the unscripted laughter during toasts, the tearful embrace that no one else noticed, and the energy on the dance floor at midnight. These are the images that you will cherish a decade from now. They cannot be staged. They can only be captured by a team that knows exactly when to press the shutter.
In editorial mode, we bring creative direction. Your portrait sessions are thoughtfully composed and lit with intention. Using Boston’s extraordinary visual landscape and architecture as a creative backdrop, not a default setting. The cobblestone streets of Beacon Hill, the grand victorian brownstones of Back Bay, the waterfront light along the Seaport and fan pier, we know how to use this city to produce portraits that feel cinematic and genuinely distinctive.

What's Included
Every CityLux wedding photography collection begins with an engagement session — not as an optional add-on, but as a foundational part of our process. Getting in front of our cameras before your wedding day makes an enormous difference in how natural and confident you feel when the moment actually arrives.
We strongly recommend and prefer two photographers at every wedding. A second photographer ensures no moment goes uncaptured, provides complementary angles during the ceremony, and allows us to be in two places simultaneously during the getting-ready and first-look portions of your day. It also serves as backup, we believe two is always better than one.
Our collections start at $7,000 and are customized to the specific requirements of your event — its length, its venue, its complexity, and your priorities as a couple. We do not offer rigid one-size-fits-all packages because no two Boston weddings are alike. We are flexible and often have couples request unique options. Boston Venues We Know
We have photographed weddings at Boston’s most prestigious venues, including the Fairmont Copley Plaza, the Boston Harbor Hotel, Boston Public Library, State Room, Omni Parker House, Lenox Hotel, and dozens more across Back Bay, Beacon Hill, the Seaport, Cambridge, and the surrounding region. That venue experience means we arrive knowing exactly how to execute without hesitation.
We also photograph weddings regularly in Newport, Rhode Island. Mansions like Belle Mer, Rosecliff, Castle Hill Inn, and hotels like Forty1 North. Throughout New England and select destinations, we are even now even photographing weddings in Florida.
What Boston Couples Ask Us
How far in advance should we book? We recommend booking 12–18 months out. Boston’s most sought-after wedding dates — particularly fall Saturdays — fill well in advance. Our 2026 calendar is nearly full and we are actively booking 2027.
Do we need an engagement session? Yes — and we include one in every collection. Beyond the beautiful images, an engagement session gives us the opportunity to build a genuine working relationship before your wedding day. When you’ve already been in front of our cameras, the wedding day feels completely different — relaxed, natural, and easy.
How many photographers will be at our wedding? We always recommend two. A lead photographer and a second shooter work together throughout your day to ensure comprehensive, multi-angle coverage from the first moment of getting ready through the final send-off.
When will we receive our gallery? We deliver final edited galleries within eight weeks of your wedding day. We are proud of our turnaround time and communicate proactively throughout the editing process.
Do you travel outside Boston? Yes. We photograph weddings throughout New England — Newport, Cape Cod, the New Hampshire Seacoast, Maine, and Vermont — and are available for destination weddings worldwide. Travel fees apply for weddings beyond our standard Boston radius.
